April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)—a time to stand in solidarity with survivors, raise awareness, and renew our commitment to preventing sexual violence in all its forms. At Moyo Health & Community Services, we recognize that women—especially those who are Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, or living with disabilities—are disproportionately affected by sexual assault.
From a women’s care perspective, SAAM is not just about awareness; it’s about action. It’s about creating safe, trauma-informed spaces where survivors are believed, supported, and empowered to heal on their own terms. It’s also about confronting the systems that enable violence—through education, advocacy, and community care.
We believe in the power of survivor-led healing. Through our programs, we strive to offer compassionate care, mental health supports, and culturally relevant resources that affirm the dignity of all women and gender-diverse people.
This month—and every month—we encourage our community to speak out, listen deeply, and help build a world free from sexual violence.
If you or someone you know needs support, please contact us. You are not alone.
