Removing the Barriers: 2SLGBTQ+ 101 & 102
An introductory training on 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion for service providers in the Peel Region.
This training will provide staff and volunteers with a breadth of introductory
2SLGBTQ+ terminology, concepts, and theories. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm the necessary skills and practices to be supportive allies to diverse members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Learning Objectives:
1. Build a common understanding of significant 2SLGBTQ+ concepts and explore the idea of “intersectionality”.
2. Understand the appropriate terms to use in reference to 2SLGBTQ+
communities and individuals.
3. Define and differentiate the concepts that are under assigned sex, gender identity, gender expression and sexuality.
4. Debunk common stereotypes/myths about 2SLGBTQ+ communities and
examine the four types of microaggressions.
5. Brainstorm and reflect upon the skills and practices needed to be a good ally to diverse 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
6. Identify ways that allies can address 2SLGBTQ+ oppressions and
discriminations.
Due to COVID19 precautions this training will take place online for the time being. A Zoom link will be sent to all participants registered the week of the training.

2SLGBTQ+ Programming:
The 2SLGBTQ+ programming includes community interventions focused on
supporting cis and trans queer men, women and gender non-conforming folks as well as those who identify as Same Gender loving. Our systems level collaborative work includes our leadership role at the 2SLGBTQ+ collaborative of Peel region, capacity building of service providers and facilitation of the virtual platform; Rainbow Salad (www.rainbowsalad.ca)
Queer Minds:
Queer Minds is a closed social space for individuals that identify as Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer etc… In collaboration between Moyo Health & Community Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association.Group takes place every Wednesday from 5.30PM – 7PM. Queer Minds is a group for individuals aged 16+ to connect with community and gain knowledge and support on various 2SLGBTQ+ topics/issues.

Chai 'n' Chat offers you time and space for you to think out loud, bounce ideas and to talk about what's happening for you right now. We want to hear about your day, your latest crush whos got you stressed and what's keeping you from a good nights sleep. Its safe to say Moyo's got your back when it comes to: Dating, Mental Health, Sexuality, Substance-use, Sexual Health etc.
Sign up today and pick a 30min time slot that works for you. Due to COVID19 all sessions will take place over phone. When you sign up you will be provided with a confidentiality agreement that confirms our duty of care to protect your anonymity and safety.

Newcomer Photovoice Project:
The Photovoice Project is story telling through photography. Participants will take and use photo images to capture aspects of their environment and experiences. The project is an 8 week-cycle program that focuses on addressing the various health, social, and cultural needs of newcomer communities residing in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon including those living with chronic disease and/or identify as ACB (African, Caribbean, Black), those who identify as 2SLGTBQ+ Femme or substance users are eligible. The project aims to increase the capacity of settlement services in the region to enhance newcomers’ sense of belonging.
As a participant of the program, you will:
• Learn the professional way to use a camera.
• Share your stories through photography with a weekly photo theme.
• Meet and connect with new people.
• Learn about newcomer services available to you free of charge.
• Certificate of completion and volunteer hours.
• Have your photos showcase in an exhibition.
• $50 incentive from Moyo HCS for completing the program.
