Disability Pride Month

July 16, 2025

July is Disability Pride Month—a time to recognize the strength, identity, and leadership within disability communities, while also holding space for the daily realities of navigating a world built with barriers.

Disability is a natural part of the human experience—one that intersects with race, gender, class, queerness, and every other aspect of identity. Many of the people we serve, work with, and organize alongside live with visible and invisible disabilities. This month is about affirming that the lives of people with disabilities are not less than—they are essential, powerful, creative, and worthy of celebration.

Disability equity isn’t just about ramps and accessible doors—it’s about building systems that actually work for everyone. It’s about trusting lived experience, compensating people for their time and expertise, and challenging ableism wherever it shows up, including in the nonprofit and healthcare sectors.

As we reflect during Disability Pride Month, we invite our community to go beyond performative support. Listen to disabled voices. Centre care and access. Remember that pride and protest can go hand in hand.

At Moyo, we’re committed to creating space where everyone—every body and mind—can thrive.
